  I’ll soon be moving to Derby with my wife and 2 kids. I’m moving for work reasons. The automobile industry offers great opportunities here. My wife is a tailor and loves her job. Is tailoring a relevant enough industry here? She’s got a position at present and I wouldn’t like to ask her to compromise that if the chances are not good in Derby.

    I’d say there are pretty good chances. Derby has a history of silk mills and silk throwing and also of knitting machines. At present there are plenty of tailoring services. Your best bet is probably to contact the Derby city council, they should be able to give you good advice or at least updated information… Good luck, it really is a lovely place to live.
