Evening part time cleaning I’ve been applying for evening part time cleaning jobs and I keep being told I must be seen and not heard. At first I didn't get it and I asked. Now the idea seems to be that sometimes in offices the bosses stay on occasionally and I have to be able to do my work without disturbing them. Not easy, is it, if you’re cleaning the table next to them or if you’re hoovering the carpet… I don’t know… People can sometimes be a bit special…

well, it’s not as easy to work like that when necessary, but I think it makes sense. Personally I've been in those circumstances and you realise that they’re people working overtime for a reason and they often need to concentrate on major issues.

I don’t agree, there’s got to be space for everyone, the boss or whoever is in the office have to be able to do their work, but we have to be able to do our cleaning well too, and honestly I haven’t seen a hoover that makes no noise. Also you can hardly clean an office if you’ve got to be pussyfooting around.

I think that there’s a happy medium, you can let others work and do your own thing as long as both sides have the good will to give and take. I’ve never had a problem with these situations.
