An Nhs call centre worker plays a vital role in the Nhs. They are responsible to take and redirect all incoming calls to the Nhs Call Centre. The majority of the calls will be related to health problems, and the worker is responsible for putting the caller through to the appropriate medical professional.
The main responsibilities of the job holder include dealing with the public, answering calls and ensuring that queries are directed to the right person. Usually workers will operate a switchboard and are expected to know exactly where to direct a person’s query based on the nature of their medical problem.
It is paramount the call centre worker maintains an excellent level of customer service and as such, communication and problem-solving skills, impeccable telephone etiquette and an upbeat personality are requirements for this role.
Usually there is no requirement for a bachelor’s degree for this role; however, those workers advising patients will be expected to have a degree in the relevant medical profession. The average salary for this role is between £10,000 and £15,000 per annum.
