Packer
A packer will usually work in a factory on a production line, removing the manufactured product and getting it ready for shipping. It's a job that doesn't require qualifications, but upon being employed, the job holder will normally receive some on-the-job training in order to ensure their work is up to company standards
The main duties of this role are to load boxes and mark their contents before they get moved onto a warehouse or shipped out from the factory. The job holder must also often weigh the contents of the boxes, and for delicate items, make sure they are packed securely. They will also have to clearly mark the contents of each box. For companies that require regular shipments leaving their warehouses, the packer will have to work to a tight schedule ensuring the goods go out on time
This is a job that demands a lot of physical work, so the employee must be healthy. They will usually work in shifts, staying on duty for eight hours at a time, although by law employees have to take a break every four hours. The salaries for this type of work begin at minimum wage, but it is possible to earn in excess of £15-an-hour or more with overtime.
